About our videos. We have chosen to make most of our videos in slow motion. This is to help you evaluate the horses structure and movement. Their footstep and rhythm. The horses reach underneath and drive.
Notice in some of my photos that they show the horse in the height of the trot. The horse's hind leg is going to touch the ground before the front leg. This is excellent movement. Also, notice also that the the hind foot is going to touch the ground well over from where the front leg took off from. This shows excellent reach underneath.
A couple other things to look at a photo in the mid stride of the trot is the suspension (are all four feet off the ground) and that the horse is making three triangles in the stride. Both rear legs making a "V" and the front legs making a "V" and another "V" between the front and rear leg on the same side. You want the "V's" to be equal in size and shape. This is an indication of balance at the trot.
A slow motion video can help you see these things and more.
It seems to me that my videos seem to move too fast when uploaded on the net. It is like the horse is moving a bit too fast unlike any horse I have seen move. That is why I prefer the slow motion effect. I want you to really see the horse move.
Also, keep in mind that most horses look their best at 3 months of age and 3 years of age. Usually, as a yearling and two year old the horse is butt high forcing the horse to moving on the front end and not giving the movement that they will as an adult. Try to look back and see what the horse moved like as a 3 month old to help evaluate your potential horses movement. You will find the balance to be much better at this younger age which your prospect will retain again when mature.
Also, notice that he has a short back and a long underline along his belly.
