Frequently asked questions:
What is the best way to learn more about your horses?
Please call us. 507-534-3311 or 507-251-1909. Ask for Kari. It is easiest to answer your questions for you via the phone. We also feel it is the best way to determine how serious you are about this horse. We will help you to determine if this is the best choice for you. We aim to match you with the best horse for you needs. We are trying to breed the best prospects for dressage with big free moving and reaching trots along with long walks and canters. It is often difficult to get a good walk out of a baby bent on trotting and galloping everywhere. Mature riding horses and driving horses are represented as being what they are. We have very happy clients all over the country that have purchased our horses. Most have purchased from photos and video. We can put you in contact with them for references.
How much of a deposit do I need to hold a horse?
To purchase one of our horses we need 50% down to hold your horse.
This is to help us know that you are serious about purchasing. Many people ask to have a vet check done because they are purchasing from a distance and need the vet to be their eyes for them. The deposit is used a collateral to be sure that the vet is paid in case you don't pay them. Deposits can be refunded if their is a major problem found on the vet check less the amount owed to the vet.
How can I pay for my horse?
A wire transfer is quick and relatively inexpensive. We have a special wire transfer account and can give you the pertinenent information. We also take Paypal which can accept credit cards through there. There is a 4% fee which the purchaser will pay. Personal checks are fine too although will slow up the purchasing process.
Can I get my deposit back if I change my mind?
No and Yes. The deposit is used to be sure you are a serious buyer.
We will refund a deposit if a foal or horse flunks a vet check. The deposit is a down payment towards the purchase of your new horse. At that point, you actually own the horse but can not take it until it is fully paid for.
We have taken your horse off the market making them not available to any other prospective purchasers. If we have another prospective buyer come to purchase this horse, we will tell him that he is sold and not available thus you can be certain we will not sell your horse out from under you when the deposit is received.
What if I don't have enough to purchase the horse right away?
We will consider a payment program but the purchase price will not vary from the price on that horse on our website. We need 50% down and have the horse paid for within 4 months. The first month of board will be free on any purchased horse but subsequent board will be $250 per month. We also need the horse to be insured with both our names on the policy so everyone is covered if their is a resulting accident in injury or death. We take no responsibility if any horse that is an injury and all vet bills will be covered by the purchaser. Accidents happen and we do everything we can to prevent them. No horses will leave our home until they are paid for in full.
Can I see more photos and video of the horse I am interested in?
Yes, we will do everything we can to help you "see" the horse you are interested in. Generally all video taping and photos are done by one person alone with the horse thus we are limited sometimes with the angles and such. Special photo sessions can be done assuming the weather, footing and such is acceptable to make the horse look it's best. Winter photos are not desirable by most of us and we feel they do not show our horses in their best light thus prefer not doing winter photos or video.
I purchased one of your horses but the shipper can't come for nearly a month. Should I pay board?
The first month's board is free. After that the board is $250 per month or $10 dollars per day. The care for your horse will not change from what it was before your purchase thus will be kept in a group/herd manner in pasture with full feed hay, minerals and pasture(seasonal). Any injuries to the horse will be attended by a vet and all costs will be the purchasers. It is encouraged that you purchase insurance on your horse for your own protection.
I want to purchase a foal but don't really have the facilities for a foal, can I keep it there with you?
Sure, we LOVE watching our foals grow up and feel that a herd environment is ideal for foal development. Our foals are kept in a group with the older horses thus learn manners and pecking order. They understand how to live in a group and act around other horses. Our herd is very mellow thus is an excellent place to grow babies. The babies will be handled occasionally to keep their halter skills up. Insurance is required on your foal. Board is $250 per month paid at the first of each month. We can discuss the starting and ending date of the arranged board.
Will your trade?
We will consider trades.
Generally, horse trades don't interest us. We will strongly consider serious trades of : Pure bred Andalusians, Pure bred Friesians, a wonderful well broke gaited horse for trail, a WELL broke kids horse ready to show in 4-H now, and possibly
16 H or taller homozygous Tobiano mares. Also, trucks, skidloader, tractor, riding lawn tractor, hay and trailers would be considered. Give me a call and we can talk about what you have.
